It was very exciting to start getting my feet wet with the world of open source. With this release I got to learn how to contribute to a project on GitHub. We were contributing to our classmate’s note taking application that we made in lab 2. I contributed to two projects to enhance the way the application works. For the first issue, I contributed to Daniel’s note taking application by making sure that when the website loads up, it automatically focuses on the editor so that the user does not have to click on the editor to start making notes. This was done by adding a focus() function right after the data is loaded. As you can see , now when the website loads up it automatically focuses on the editor. I pushed this through and created a pull request which was then reviewed accepted by Daniel. You can see the pull request here. For my second issue, I added an auto save feature which saves the users notes every five minutes to Wajeehs application. This was done by adding a setInterval function. You can see here, that even if you do not press ctrl+s or click the save button, it will still save your work every five seconds just in case the user accidentally exits out of your application the work is still saved. You can see the pull request here.
